It was once the ancestral home of the Taaffe family who owned many castles throughout Ireland and Europe. Today it is owned by the Mullen family who have opened its doors to guests who wish to sample the delights of staying in such stylish surroundings.

Smarmore Castle provides the perfect base from which to explore the wide range of attractions and activities to be found in our area. During your stay you can visit the world famous heritage sites at Newgrange and Hill of Tara, travel through the rugged scenery of the Cooley peninsula or discover some of the other castles located in this fascinating corner of Ireland.
