Patrick Kavanagh Centre, Inniskeen, Co. MonaghanThe Patrick Kavanagh Resource Centre in Inniskeen is an essential place to visit for anyone who has an interest in twentieth century Irish literature. Kavanagh’s distinctive style and outlook on life was heavily influenced by his early life in rural Monaghan. He later moved to Dublin and continued to write there up to his death in 1967. The centre is located in the former parish church of Inniskeen. It houses an exhibition commerating Kavanagh and the Inniskeen area. It also has a sixty seat theatre and research centre. Tours of the area which point out places that were mentioned in his work can be arranged. |
