Trim

Trim is an officially designated Bord Fáilte heritage town. It is outstanding not only for the castle but also for its great churches, friary and nearby gardens. The “Power & Glory” multimedia show located in the centre of the town provides a lively presentation of Trim’s history. The town is also famous for its association with Arthur Wellesley, the Duke of Wellington, conqueror of Waterloo and Prime Minister of Britain. A great 75 foot Corinthian Column erected there in 1817 commemorates his Waterloo victory. Jonathan Swift the author of Gulliver’s Travels also had a strong association with the town.
