The Oriel Cultural Centre located in the Old Gaol in Dundalk is the venue for Seisiún (night of Irish music and dance) every Tuesday and Thursday during Augus
t.
The entertainment is provided by members of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Éireann.
According to the event’s website:
“Seisiún is not just a concert but a unique traditional cultural experience. It gives audiences an opportunity to experience “real” Irish entertainment where a memorable night of ceol agus craic is always guaranteed.”
The first half of the night’s entertainment consists of a stage show of Irish music, song and dance. The show is followed by light refreshments (normally tea and scones); the night then concludes with an informal traditional session where the visitors are encouraged to participate if they so wish – this involves simple Irish dances such as Siege of Ennis, Walls of Limerick, etc and a song or two.
